Abstract: This publication is a synthesis of previous research on the Lower Cretaceous McMurray/Wabiskaw deposit which contains approximately 142 billion cubic m of bitumen in the Athabasca oil sands area, Alberta, Canada. However, this publication includes data from recent drilling, a new stratigraphic scheme based on sequence stratigraphic principles, new sedimentological and palynological data and more extensive depositional modelling.
