Abstract: A comprehensive approach to reservoir characterization was developed using an integrated, interdisciplinary study involving geology, pore system analysis, and parameter modelling. The Provost Upper Mannville B Pool in east-central Alberta was used as a case study. The approach is a sequential one, starting with a detailed understanding of the reservoir geology and pore systems, and scaling up conventional core analysis permeability and porosity data to the flow unit or reservoir grid block scale. Different methodologies were adopted for each flow unit, depending on its internal characteristics.
